Serpent in the Garden, Screech Owl, First Wife of Adam, Mother of Demons, Strangler of Babies, Lamia, Source of the Witchblood - Lilith is an enigmatic figure of ancient origin. Considered a demoness long before her adoption into the Hebraic pantheon and debated mention in the Hebrew Testament, her inclusion in the 8th century text Alphabet of Ben Sira and later the 13th century writings of Rabbi Jacob ha-Cohen fixed her place in the Western mind.
"Jackals shall meet with desert beasts, the hairy goats shall call out; there shall the Lilith repose, and find for herself a place to rest."Isaiah 34:14
With the knowledge of the secret name of G-d, she took flight on wings given to her by the Fallen Angel Shemjaza; she challenges authority and demands self-mastery from those who would come to her. By some accounts she is the mother of Cain and consort of Samael. A true witch's goddess, her flight is the stirring of the Witch-Blood itself.
