We place a high emphasis on spirit guidance. Each Exu or Pomba Gira is petitioned from the onset of sculpting, with offerings made and the ponto of that Exu or Pomba Gira drawn into the clay. A candle is lit in offering thereon and after it has burned completely, the axé of the spirit and flame now embodied in the clay - only then is the clay used.
Basic charges of herbs and dirts are placed in the heart and at the feet of each statue, and a final loading charge placed in a large cowrie on the underside of each statue. This final loading of the statue, or crossing, takes three days and multiple offerings and petitions to the Exu or Pomba Gira. Each ingredient is confirmed by the spirit, often utilizing dozens of ingredients from various plants, mineral and animal raw material.
When you purchase a custom statue, we will contact you via email for information about which Exu or Pomba Gira you desire, and to discuss basic design and options for crossing the statue. Because each statue is uniquely hand sculpted and then crossed, there will be wait time for each piece, which we will estimate and relay in our initial communication.
All statues come with suggested rituals of entrance, care suggestions, and more information about the chosen spirit.
